Maintenance

Modern, high performance timber windows require only minimal maintenance. Arden Windows products come with a full guarantee if the timber windows are maintained during their service life following our maintenance guidance. Many factors affect the cycle of maintenance such as:

  • Window aspect
  • Geographical location
  • Quality of installation
  • Prevailing weather conditions
  • Window design etc.

We recommend that products are ordered fully finished utilising our micro-porous paint system which gives greater and more consistent paint build compared with brush applied coatings. It is essential that further coatings that are applied as part of the maintenance cylce are micro-porous. Whilst traditional gloss paint can be used it should be avoided, as it will nullify the benefits of the micro-porous coating beneath.

Generally, lighter coloured paints and stains are best. We would recommend that dark colour stains or paints are avoided for windows or doorsets and especially if subject to high levels of exposure to direct sunlight (such as South facing elevations). Darker colours will be subject to a reduced warranty . For further advice please contact us.
