Safety
Glazing
Where
windows are situated in high risk areas we supply safety glass as standard to
comply with Building Regulations Approved Document NI (1991) See Figure 1 for
details.
Fig 1: Recommended Use of Safety Glazing

The
shaded areas represent critical locations where safety glass should be used
which include:
- Red Shaded Area: Doors and adjacent
glazed side panels - from floor level to a height of 1500mm and within 300mm of
either door side edges
- Brown Shaded Areas : Windows - from floor level to a height of 800mm
- Bathing areas: potential danger
exists from slipping on wet areas so all glazing within 800mm of the bottom of
a bath or shower should be safety glass.
This
advice is only a brief summary and as such is not fully comprehensive. It is
essential that customers seek full and complete Safety Glazing advice from
either FENSA or the GGF (Glass and Glazing Federation).
